Start early in your private van with a brief stop at Awanacancha to learn about textiles and South America Camelids, continue to Pisac for a visit of the archeological site, and walk to the main temple, lunch break at a buffet place, on to Ollantaytambo to visit some of the best Inca imperial style masonry. Depending on time we will do a 3 miles hike to our camping Veronica, or continue by car.
Early wake up for breakfast, and walk (15 minutes) to board the train, for a short train ride to Km 104 of the railroad mark. Cross the hanging bridge, and present passports in the checkpoint of the park. Chachabamba a ceremonial site is the perfect start to our hike. This moderate mid-elevation hike ascending a total of 2,600 feet/800 m will be complete in 6 hours with stops for lunch and photography, covering the distance of 6 mile/9.6km.
On the way, we’ll walk through a massive lower terrace of the Wiñay Wayna ruins for an exploration, and box lunch, before we reach the Sun gate with your first view of Machu Picchu.
In the next 2 hours, we’ll explore Machu picchu to avoid the big crowds the following day.
Bus down to Aguas Calientes, train back to Ollantaytambo, bus to Cusco, arriving late at night.
